Playing an interesting mix of sounds labeled folk punk, Indiana based Austin Lucas grabs a mic and guitar, takes to the stage at Lovelite in Friedrichshain.
His latest LP, Somebody Loves You, came out late last year to a very decent round of appreciative reviews. Here’s a track from the album, the title track in fact:
Austin Lucas – Somebody Loves You
To be honest, I’m not really getting the punk angle, certainly the folk, but there’s definitely more of a 70′s country sound there than anything else, it’s all very morose and wanting, it’s melodic Nick Cave or Midlake goes bluegrass, bejeweled by dark mid-western imagery…
…but as much as you and I can throw terms around and pull it apart, at the end of it all, the gig is going to be nonetheless excellent, so get along.
